Why are some people always so lucky?

There are some annoying people who always seem to be in the right place at the right time:
• Their business is expanding.
• They are promoted all the time.
• In short - they always succeed!
If we exclude the lucky lottery winners – who, of course, are ridiculously few in relation to the number of people who buy the tickets every day - there are some individuals who always seem to have great luck with everything.

Do they keep a lucky charm in their pockets? Never walk under ladders and always spit three times when they see a black cat crossing the street? Is that what you have to do to get lucky, both at work and at home?

No, apparently not. I have been told a secret about people who seem to have all the luck in the world and now you'll get to hear it too:

Here's why some people always are so lucky:

1. They are proactive
A person who consistently achieve things and don't just sit and wait for Lady Luck (or customers) to come knocking on the door.

2. They have a positive attitude
I think you would be able to prove that we all get what we think about most. People who achieve things believe in themselves and in their abilities and what they don't know now – they'll learn - so that they become more positive about their abilities and themselves.

3. They are passionate
In addition to being positive, those who succeed are full of passion for achieving their goals. They are looking for chances that other people never bother to search for and they make use of them. Many of those who are ”lucky” also have something to prove, maybe for a wife/husband/friends/a bully from grade five or someone else.

4. They are prepared
People with ”luck” are mentally, physically and emotionally ready to dig into whatever they need to dig into. They've read the books, done the ground work, learned and they've worked hard to be ready when the chance pops up.

5. They think long-term
Unlike Lottery-buyers who only rely on luck, week in and week out, our hero/heroine knows that success doesn't come easy - and that success has nothing to do with luck. You just have to look at any successful person to realize that each of them has gone through frustrating periods and experienced setbacks. They don't give up ten meters before the finishing line.

6. They have made it through the dog years
Lucky people are willing to start from the bottom and work their way up. They have patience, they don't need to prove themselves and be the best right away. That's smart.

7. They know exactly where they are going
These “lucky” people know what they want to accomplish and can visualize the end result before in detail. They are motivated by the exciting images that they are trying to turn into reality. They don't just want to be happy or successful in general.

8. They are flexible
No matter how prepared you are, you can never anticipate all the setbacks and sidetracks you encounter. To step back for a moment to see where they are going and to change things comes natural for all ”lucky” people. When something doesn't work they never complain about bad luck - they change things.

9. They take risks
Taking risks is not about spending your entire salary on lottery tickets. Real success is in most cases about what you do on unknown territory and with the risk of being ridiculed - but to ignore it - or at least pretend to ignore it and continue striving for a goal.

10. The quote
”I don't know anything about luck. I just know that the more I practice, the luckier I get”
- Jack Nicklaus

The question now is - what kind of luck do you want?
