What is search engine marketing?


Search engine marketing = all you do for your website to be high up on the list of answers that search engines provide for those looking for something on the internet.

Listen - there are important things you need to know now that different companies are pounding on your door to get you to buy services to get your website to be more visible in the
search engines. This year is really the year when the internet will count for real as a business channel for the vast majority of people. But, as always, when someone shouts “GOLD” unscrupulous adventurer will be trying to use dirty tricks to part you from your money. Of course there are also good companies that can help you appear in the search engines, but the question is whether small businesses need them ... I don't think so.


Seven things to know before hiring a company for location-based services:

1. Will a specialist in page-optimizing optimize/personalize your pages before they are submitted to the search engines? It's extremely important this is handled by a smart, experienced and savvy marketing person.

2. Who have been their customers in the past? Can you contact them? Do so.

3. Do they register your pages automatically or manually? You want a technician to manually put your pages to each search engine according to the search engine guidelines.

4. Do they send documents that verify what they did and when they did it? Do you get special documentation that shows things are done?

5. Can you get documentation on what categories they made notification to when dealing with directory services?

6. How do the people you talk to do? This is more important than what software they use. Do you find them creative enough to help you with keywords? Do they have knowledge and experience in the marketing field? Do they ask you smart questions about your industry so that they can better understand your line of business or do you get the feeling that they just go through the same process with every client? Can they explain what they can do in a way that makes you understand what they are saying?

7. Can you get written guarantees that they make registration and ambient marketing in a way that is ethical and according to the search engines' own guidelines?

With this knowledge at the table the company you intend to hire will better understand that you know what this is about and treat you with respect.
