Venture capital – how to get it

How to obtain funds from “business angels” and/or venture capital firms.

I don't know if “Angel” is the correct term of the businesses and individuals who can offer money to get various projects off the ground, but it's a good thing that they exist. With the right idea presented by the right person to the right “angel investor”, your startup could be awesome. And it's not just about getting money for your business ideas:

It's also about:
• You get access to their knowledge and network.
• They have knowledge of the market.
• They know how to lead and recruit.

What venture capital firms look for:
• A strong personality.
• Your business idea.
• How they will make money on that idea.

What venture capital firms want:
• A portion of your business.
• Full transparency.
• That the company in the end will be IPO and that they can sell it with a profit.

What to watch for in a venture capital firm:

• They should know your industry.
• They should put down commitment and not just money.
• You should consider whether it's really good people you are dealing with. You see your mission as a pet project - venture capital companies are foremost looking at your business as something to make money off of.
