The Secret of effective meetings

When I asked the subscribers to our newsletters about what they feel is the greatest waste of their time, unnecessary meetings came up high on the list.

And time is money, as we all know - so how about getting into a new habit?

Six questions are all you really need when you – or anyone else – think you need to summon everyone for yet another meeting:

1. Is this really necessary to have a meeting about?
2. What are we going to discuss that needs a concrete and useful change/improvement?
3. Who must be involved? Make sure they are prepared and informed when they arrive.
4. Who shouldn't be there? Let them do other things and avoid having them just hang around aimlessly without being able to contribute.
5. How long do we have to discuss every single issue (If you know you only have 15 minutes, then it usually also takes 15 minutes.)
6. What happens next and who is responsible for implementing the things decided on the meeting and for forwarding the information to everyone who are affected by those decisions?

Tough and effective? Absolutely. Stress relieving and enjoyable as a marketer – you bet!
