The art of planning a website


You can call it a website, a web page or site, depending on who you are. It still boils down to the same thing - an opportunity for you to reach out to any number of new customers, old customers and everyone else who have been in touch with your company. This section is all about what you can do to make the Internet your best channel to reach out online.


To succeed with a website, you have to think before you build it. You need to have strict control of every little detail. This checklist will help you to get started:


1. Why should you have a website - because you found a reason for why you need to be online.

2. What do you want to accomplish with the website?

3. Who will use/visit the website (customer, vendor or others)?

4. How do you promote it - how do you get people to visit?

5. Who will market the website?

6. Who will build the website and what will it cost?

7. What features should you have (web shop, contact forms, etc.)

8. Where will you get the pictures and materials?

9. How often should you update the website and who should do it?

10. What goals do you have with the website and how fast do you need to achieve the goals?


Never forget that every decision about the website should be focused on providing benefits to those who visit. Never forget that. One more time - never forget it!
