How to motivate others

One of the biggest challenges a boss has is to motivate others - and I mean for real, not just so anyone can repeat the business objectives by talking about them, but actually feel it on the inside - preferably from the heart.

But what does it take? Here is a quick checklist:

1. That you yourself are motivated – show people how passionate you are yourself about something.
2. That you surround yourself with the right kind of people (who are hungry and energetic themselves.)
3. That you set realistic goals that can be reached – that people can feel the sweet taste of.
4. That there is a reward up ahead.
5. That you follow people during the process, support and acknowledge other people's achievements.
6. That you see and understand what motivates each individual employee.

Yes, it's really that easy (in theory) and the purpose of this list is really just to remind you how you can make it easier the next time you want to make a change.
