Five mental experiment for brave marketers

Sometimes it's important to change your thinking and there are easy ways to do it to understand how to make your businesses better. If it gets better for your customers, it will be better for you as well.

Experiment 1
Change focus from yourself to your customers. Most business owners think of themselves first (admit it – you do it too). What would happen to your business if you started to think like your customers? What would you change if you were a customer of your business? What do your customers care about? What is it they want to accomplish that you can help them with? If you were shopping for yourself - would you honestly care about what you offer today? Would you say: “This is the company I want to be a customer of”? If you can't answer the question with an obvious YES, what can you change to be able to say YES?

Experiment 2
Think of your customers as if they were your patients. They have a disease, a deficiency that you can cure. Will you help them with your magic medicine or does it have the same content as all other medications on the market? You know deep down what you can do to change the recipe a little, right?

Experiment 3
Think of your customers as if they were defiant teenagers. What would you do to make them lose their natural suspicion before you sell? Imagine that they say; ”Oh, who cares?”about everything you say.

Experiment 4
Think of your customers as your best friend. Would you, in good conscience, sell your stuff to him/her?

Experiment 5
Imagine the world's sharpest journalists doing a story about your business that you have claimed to be so unique. They will dig up the truth. They will compare your business with others and see how unique it is. You will have to be confronted with their results and answer their questions live on air. Would you pass that test?

The purpose of these experiments is, of course, to be able to hone your business so that your days will be easier when you sell yourself and your business to your customers.
