A fantastic way to take care of yourself as a manager

Hey boss!

They will come sneaking in disguised as useful helpers and at first it feels like they really are out to help, but soon you will notice that a lot of things goes wrong because you trust them - yes, you look upon them as work itself. Have you, like me, fallen into this trap?

I am talking, of course, about meetings and every autumn there's a huge risk that we fall back into inefficiency and stress about not being able to take things forward if we aren't careful.

Meetings are only important if you (or your staff) are smarter when you/they leave than when you/you went into the meeting. Meetings must be about achieving results, right?

So for your own sake - set an agenda for yourself and what you will achieve in the fall and weigh all meeting invitations against it. Ask yourself: “Will this meeting help me and what I do right now to take a major leap forward?”

And why is this issue so important?

1. Well, because you shouldn't be swamped with people who wants you to do things for them.

2. Well, because you need to find some time for yourself, too!

3. Well, because you shouldn't work yourself into an early grave.

So the next time someone says;”Let's just meet up without any preconditions”, you should start running the other way if this person isn't someone who makes you smile!
