6 things that will make your boss love you

If you want to be the boss's best friend, then you shouldn't try to suck up to him/her - on the contrary. It's essential that you are a person who is independent and provides good things. Here are tips on how to get the boss to see you as the next person who should get a higher salary or a better job.

1. Don't ask questions that you can answer yourself. It's convenient to always go to the boss when you aren't sure of anything, but try to ask yourself;”Will he/she be able to answer this question better than me?” the next time. You will discover that you can usually answer the question better yourself.

2. Come up with solutions, not problems. Don't approach the boss with a problem if you haven't spent at least ten minutes in finding a solution to present to him/her.

3. Don't apologize. Take responsibility for your mistakes. Instead you should offer a solution for what you can do better next time. It’ll make your boss sleep better at night.

4. Do more than the boss expects. Never say that something is not your responsibility, on the contrary - be sure to take on more work than what's in your job description. It shows your team-spirit.

5. Stop whining. Sure, you need to let out your frustrations now and then, but if you always go see your boss with complaints, your visit – yes, your whole person – will become a source of bad karma for the boss and if possible he/she will avoid you.

6. Be proactive. Don't only offer lots of verbal suggestions for improvements - talk is easy. Make sure that you can present hands-on changes and let the boss enjoy the results.
